So many details and the way the background interacts with you when you play the guitar is amazing, and created some really great moments. The visuals are so striking and vibrant and all so diverse in each world etc. My fav saying, concept art came to life, even more so as a lot of this could straight up be concept art. There was only a bit of the rhythm section, maybe could have been included a bit more? The music and sounds was immense, as expected and the way the Square button action of playing your guitar usually fit in with the soundtrack of the area pretty well! The visuals are probably my favourite area. The game makes up for the simple and easy gameplay with it's stellar visuals, writing and music (sound design in general). The gameplay overall was basic but fun, and interactive. The comedy was great as well, Clavigo was the best thing ever. It even inspired me a bit, considering I am currently in this weird point in my life, a bit aimless, more than most it feels like. Some great lines such as "Play is if no one is watching" and "Ambition is a hungry, salivating, complex creature" among many others. It has a great story, that's brilliantly acted and written, with a great message behind it. He then gets a a trip of a lifetime, venturing through space, playing the biggest stages in the universe, eventually coming back to his big day and showing everyone he is a totally, different artist, of his own calibre. The game is about an upcoming Folk artist from a small town/village, trying to follow in the footsteps his Legendary uncle, forcing himself to be what everyone expects to him to be. It won BAFTA Games Award for Artistic Achievement and rightfully so. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I found an absolute gem (it has a lot big names in the credits, so not a gem in that sense). If you get the chance give it a try you won’t be disappointed.Ĥh PlayedThis was amazing from the onset, the unique art style and title card alone made me try it. Honestly, this was an amazing game to kick off my 2023 and makes me beyond excited for what is the come for this next year of games. But what they went with works I just have a personal, concept or preference. You could still keep the amazing visuals while working in music highways into the grander visual stylings. The game went with a Simon-Says approach to playing your jams but I felt a Guitar Hero/Rock Band approach would have been far more fitting. If there is anything I could complain about it is the gameplay when it comes to playing the guitar. If you love jammy style guitar work this will have you jumping over to your music steaming platform of choice to have some jams of after a session of playing this game. The music as well is something to be drawn in by too. The bold colors, the amazing concepts, and wondrous space-scape truly are next level outstanding. ![]() These grand, sweeping interstellar vistas and a true sight to behold. The star of the shows is the audio and visuals for sure. The struggles of getting out from someone’s shadow, trying to figure out who you are, and struggling with who people expect/want you to be is at the core of this story. Following the main character who is struggling to find himself, under the weight of a famous uncle, Francis has a universe trotting expedition to find him self. If there is any game to start off your New Year with it should be something light and whimsical like this game. It’s an 8 out of 10 in that the game does what it sets out to do well, but the Switch version drops a point for the performance hitches.ĥh PlayedHad an amazing time with this one. It’s an enjoyable 4 hour romp through a very interesting world and I’m glad I bought it. ![]() Unfortunately there are a few bugs which can see you hung up somewhere and requires a reset of the game. Performance wise the game is ok, but there’s some significant stutters toward the end. Graphics are pretty good but on Switch they do suffer more than I expected. The voice acting is great, and is covered by a few stars. The score on this game is stellar, making you feel like a rockstar. There’s some light rhythm sections but honestly it’s not hard. Gameplay wise it’s pretty simple - walk around, chat to people, interact with a few things and play guitar. Without spoiling things, this begins an intergalactic quest to figure out who he wants to be as a performer. The young fella, Francis, is expected to perform his first show and everyone is expecting a recreation of his uncle. It is centred around the nephew of a famous folk singer. ![]() 3h 55m PlayedThe Artful Escape is a simple walking simulator game with minor platforming elements.
